Message to a Lost and Broken People It is my experience that everyone goes through periods of time when they feel lost and broken. In some cases it is the result of relationships that have gone badly. In other circumstances, it may be a health issue, a bad decision, being the victim of someone else’s behaviors or simply living in sinful world. The clear message of Jesus and those who follow him is this. BE LOST NO MORE! BE HEALED OF YOUR BROKENESS! Our loving God is in this world looking for you and me. When we allow ourselves to be found, we are no longer lost. We are connected to the creator of the heavens and the earth. We develop hymns that say things like, “What a friend we have in Jesus”, and “I once was lost and now I am found.” So here is an action plan with two easy steps. Ignore the difference in people, see the good in them and love them the way they are…it is what God has done for you. Connect yourselves to one another with unconditional forgiveness and persistent compassion. Broken people, broken relationships and a broken world need healing. Healing takes healing hands. Jesus came into the world and was condemned and killed on the cross. Nails were driven into his hands. He was wounded by the very people he came to save. He became the “Wounded Healer”. It is a part of our faith journey to deepen our understanding of God being in our lives. He never abandoned us. He understands our brokenness because he himself has been through it. He wants to touch you in your brokenness and heal you with His power to care. When His healing penetrates our own brokenness we too become wounded healers. Sometimes we can look into the eyes of a hurting person and see the very cause of their pain. This vision is given to us so that we can embrace each other. Live your life with these two powerful ideas in your heart. Jesus finds us. Jesus heals us. Thanks be to God!
